Once upon a time, a company located between the Fernandes Compound and Angostura decided to let its workers have some fun in a Fete Match off site. I am at this company between 8 am – 4 pm from Monday to Friday each week.
I want to make a disclaimer that I have been to the Queen’s Park Oval where cricket is played twice. Once for the Lauren Hill’s Concert and the other for the Yolanda Adams’ Concert. To my credit, the Bat and Ball restaurant on the compound at the time that I visited it, had good food.
I have been reliably informed that arrangements for planning this get-away was entrusted to the Senior HR Officer, Pauline.
The proposed venue for this event was the Aranguez Savannah.

I was excited about the location which was about 15 minutes from home. I was concerned about the washroom facilities at the Pavilion as I attended a Family Day at a Pavilion by a field last month with clean toilets but a floor that was lightly flooded. I wondered about the contents of the ‘flood water’.

Anyhue, when I entered the washroom facilities in Aranguez, I was transported to fittings that looked like they belonged in property to the west of West Mall – square toilet seats and faux granite face basins – dry floor.
I went, “go Pauline!”
Pauline/Management organized us into 4 teams: Purple, Pink, Green and Orange. I picked the colour of Royalty, Purple.

My team captain and assistant organized breakfast of bake and salt fish and that caterer had a sweet hand plus the amount of food filled me until after the official lunch time of 11 am. Awesome!
When the choice of the company sponsored lunch being pelau changed to Chinese, immediately I stated that I would like sweet and sour fish or lemon fish. I have a big, big God and lo and behold, arrangements were made with one of my fave Chinese restaurants, Good Eating Place. (I had food from there the week before.) I got my sweet and sour fish. I praised God! The lunch came before the scheduled time but I was not hungry at 11 am. My boss would be SHOCKED to hear of this.
We were also given free drinks and H2O. I lugged a sorrel Shandy, Smalta and 2 other drinks home.
And we did play some cricket during the day.

I had a close friend in Caroni so planes did fly over me on the way to the airport while going to visit him and sometimes while out of the car, planes passed over me too. I remembered those times the day of the Fete Match while fielding and a ball passed over my head. Fortunately, an experienced cricketer/co-worker told another co-worker to go behind me to back me up.
When all the dust settled, I had a tan (vitamin D intake) shown by how light the skin under my watch was and I actually was bestowed with a medal for Purple Team’s third place.

Now, tell me, what more can a girl want? Eh?
In case you were still wondering, the best kept secret in Laventille is, the Myerson (formerly Tooth) Company Limited.
All THANKS to Pauline and Myerson's management's team!
